Despina Pagiota lives and works in Hamburg, Germany. She explores how visual culture shapes and fragments memory, identity, and personal history. Using techniques such as tearing, layering, distorting, and painting over mass-produced images, she creates compositions informed by textile traditions in Greece, particularly embroidery and sewing, which she integrates into canvas-based works.

Threading together fragments of the past into new visual narratives.

She reconfigures found images through manipulation, appropriation, and collage, accompanied by an engagement with tactile materials.

Her practice often extends into space through interventions and installations that transform and activate the surrounding environment.
